I’m Eric Kiep Thompson, a network engineering leader with 25+ years in cybersecurity, observability, and enterprise IT. I’ve advised global corporations, led high-impact teams, and now dedicate part of my work to restoring ethical integrity to hiring through the Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability Act (TJAAA).I blend technical strategy with public advocacy to help companies and institutions operate with transparency, efficiency, and purpose.

  • Over 25 years of experience in network engineering, cybersecurity, and observability across diverse industries including government, energy, and defense

Electric Utility Visibility Solution

Guided a multi-million dollar observability strategy after regulatory enforcement. Designed field-deployable hardware and logical traffic flow structure across a nationwide utility.

Metropolitan Wi-Fi System Design

Engineered a self-optimizing public Wi-Fi network for a major cable provider, covering over 1,000 square miles. Built automated systems for tuning, reporting, and remote troubleshooting, reducing field interventions and improving performance at scale.

Healthcare Network Standards

Standardized Wi-Fi design across multiple hospitals by mapping connectivity issues to physical and workflow-based root causes. The result: near-zero trouble tickets post-deployment and a repeatable model for future healthcare expansions.

Advocacy

In response to the growing crisis of fake job listings, I authored the Truth in Job Advertising and Accountability Act (TJAAA) — a bipartisan proposal to hold employers accountable and protect job seekers. I’ve led a national advocacy effort around the bill, building a grassroots coalition, crafting outreach materials, and engaging lawmakers directly to demand transparency and reform in hiring.
